What is included in my rental?

Tables and chairs set to your custom diagram, round mirrors, flat silverware, glassware, plates, a variety of colored cloth napkins and linens are included.*

All weddings include a 8-hour event rental. 

Children ages 3 to 9, are charged at half the price for meals.

Quinceañeras, church banquets, and other socials typically include up to 6 hrs. with rental

Additional time is available starting at $250+ per hour

May I provide outside catering for my event?

Durham Convention Center provides a head chef and an exclusive catering team to take care of all of your catering needs in-house. 

No outside food and beverage is allowed in the facility, with two exceptions:  

We offer an outside catering package to fit the needs of clients who require traditional cuisine that cannot properly be prepared in our kitchen. Such cuisine must be prepared and served by a licensed caterer. See package details for all requirements.

Special occasion cakes(or other custom baked items) are welcomed, but must be from a commercial kitchen with proof of purchase and approved by your event manager.

 

What is required to book event space?

Once you receive a quote for rental, your food and beverage minimum, and additional taxes and fees, we require a signed contract with a deposit of 50% of the food and beverage minimum, license fee, plus the listed catering management fee to secure your event space, time, and date. 

 

 

Who will be my contact once I have booked my event?

Typically, your Event Manager will contact you about 3 months from your event date. 

Event Managers are assigned to clients to finalize the details agreed upon during the sales process and execute those details the day of your event.  Please note that while we can offer you recommendations to local event planners, we do not provide full service planning and will focus on all venue logistics for your event.

 

 

Do you have a preferred vendor list?

We welcome all vendors into our space after approval from your assigned Event Manager. We can suggest vendors that we have relationships with based on your needs.

 

 

Where do I park?

Durham Convention Center is located in the heart of Downtown Durham with 5 parking garages within a 5-minute walk. Street parking is also available on Foster and Morgan St.

Is event space discounted based on hotel room nights?

Durham Convention Center and the Marriott City Center are physically connected but are managed by two different companies. We do not offer discounted event space specifically based on room night totals.
